"pinhole"
Photographers of all levels are invited to submit work for "pinhole" to A Smith Gallery by May 20, 2016. Pick up a very thin needle and poke a hole in a can or box or in the back of an old delivery truck. Load in some film or light sensitive paper and you have a camera obscura. The entry fee is $35 for the first 5 images and $6 for each additional image. Thirty images will be selected for exhibition and shown in the gallery’s “salon” from July 8 to August 28, 2016. Receptions will be held on July 30 and August 27, 2016 both from 4 to 7pm. A Blurb full color catalogue of the exhibit with all the accepted entries will be available for purchase. Awards are $325 for Juror’s Selection, three Director’s Selections each receiving an exhibition catalogue and $100 for the Visitors Award. Juror for "pinhole" will be Amanda Smith, director of A Smith Gallery.

Amanda Smith discovered pinhole photography in the late 1990’s. She was immediately attracted to the mysterious, ethereal, unpredictable quality of shooting without a lens. Her body of work, “Pinhole Diaries” is a celebration of the narrative possibilities of the camera obscura.
